Paper Residency & Exhibition Program | Self-Topography on Paper
May 2026
The Morosini-Grimani Castle
Svetvinčenat
Istria offers a quiet, spacious landscape—pastoral, green, and naturally supportive of focused work. It is an environment where attention settles and material research can unfold with clarity.
At the center of this experience is Moj Papir, the paper studio founded by artist Ana Cvitić. Her practice is grounded in sincerity, experimentation, and a deep respect for cellulose, making the studio an important point of reference for papermaking in the region. Working alongside her ethos brings precision and authenticity to the camp.
Paper Camp Croatia 2026 will take place in a peaceful farm setting, surrounded by open fields and quiet. This atmosphere allows participants to immerse fully in foundations, techniques, and exploration—steady work, slow rhythms, and space to think with their hands.
The combination of Istria’s calm landscape, the farm environment, and the presence of Moj Papir creates a rare and focused place for learning, experimentation, and deep creative research.

Paper Camp Croatia
-
Paper Camp Croatia is a focused working program held in the quiet rural landscape of Istria. It offers the same depth and clarity as all Paper Camps, shaped by the calm atmosphere of the farm and the support of a dedicated local paper studio.
-
Istria is known for its peaceful green environment, soft daylight, and steady rhythm. The landscape naturally supports long working days, deep material research, and the kind of slow attention that defines our approach.
-
On Tuesday, 13 January 2026 at 18:00 CET, we will host an introductory online meeting led by Guy Lougashi and Ana Cvitić.
This session will:introduce the structure of Paper Camp Croatia
show videos of processes so participants know what to expect
explain logistics and the daily rhythm
open space for questions
The session is recorded.
Those who wish to join can sign up through the form.
Participants have until 01 February 2026 to finalize their registration. -
Participants of the Paper Camp (not the single workshops) take part in four long online sessions leading up to the camp.
These sessions are designed to:build technical readiness
establish the conceptual direction
introduce basic exercises
prepare participants mentally and practically
create a sense of group connection before arriving on site
By the time the camp begins in Istria, participants already carry momentum, clarity, and an active engagement with the material.

Self-Topography on Paper
Paper Residency & Exhibition Program
In May 2026, Paper Lab Berlin will extend its research and residency program to Croatia, hosted within the Morosini–Grimani Castle in Svetvinčenat.
This program is conceived as a space for sustained labor, material research, and self-documentation through paper — bringing together residency work and a final exhibition within a historical architectural context.
The residency will focus on Self-Topography on Paper: paper as surface, skin, and archive; a field for mapping presence, memory, and form through repetitive action and long attention.
More information and an open call will be announced soon.
Stay close.
