Paper Lab Berlin
is an independent platform for research and self-experiment on paper, working online, in person, and worldwide.
Through workshops, masterclasses, our membership platform, and Paper Camp programs, we advance the concept of self-topography on paper, exploring volume, structure, and the many ways paper can be made, manipulated, and re-formed as a medium for experimentation and reflection.

30 days on paper is a free month-long journey of creative self-documentation on paper, open to all past and current participants of Paper Lab Berlin. Guided by an opening and concluding session, it offers a daily practice framework and an online hub to develop your artistic DNA with Paper Lab content, while freely supporting your ongoing experiments.
3D Paper Making & Casting — Foundations Workshop (New Edition) Our most popular workshop, the Foundations Workshop introduces one of Paper Lab’s core research fields: mold making in paper. Divided into three volumes — papermaking, mold making for casting, and casting methods — it offers a complete entry point into the world of 3D paper. Participants learn how to craft molds from almost any material and use them to create sculptural forms and reliefs. Designed for beginners as well as advanced makers, this live online workshop is recorded and supported with detailed presentations and permanent resources. It is the perfect place to begin a dialogue with paper as a medium.
Papermaking from Fabrics This workshop unfolds in three volumes — making, shaping, and casting — and explores how both natural and synthetic fibers can be transformed into paper. Participants learn to process fabrics into pulp and re-form them into new sheets and castings, opening fresh possibilities for working with paper as medium.
The Sewing Machine Lab An online two-session workshop that reimagines the sewing machine as a tool for paper. Participants explore stitching, piercing, and thread as ways to manipulate paper, creating textures, structures, and images that go beyond traditional sewing. Live and interactive, this workshop combines technique with personal experimentation, offering a new perspective on paper and thread as mediums of contemporary art.
Mold Making from Advanced Materials Building on our foundations, this program explores advanced materials such as silicone, urethane, resins, and foams. Designed for participants who want to go deeper, it combines technical skill with artistic experimentation, expanding the possibilities of paper casting through contemporary mold-making practices.

Hosting Opportunities Worldwide
Over the past years, Paper Lab Berlin has traveled across Europe and beyond, bringing our workshop programs and Paper Camps to academies, independent studios, museums, and remote landscapes. Our work is rooted in paper — not only as a material, but as a field of research, labor, and self-topography.
We are now opening new invitations for hosting our programs in 2026 and beyond. If you represent an institution, an art school, a cultural space, or are a private individual with a studio or land that can support a deep, hands-on program, we would be happy to connect.
Our programs adapt to a wide range of spaces and audiences, with a focus on artistic experimentation, material knowledge, and meaningful process.
📩 Please get in touch to explore possibilities — we look forward to building thoughtful collaborations grounded in material and place.

Explore the Paper Lab Blog
The Paper Lab blog is more than a collection of articles — it is a window into our philosophy and practice. Here, we share the ideas that guide us, the experiments that shape our work, and the ways we continue to push the boundaries of what paper can be.
Through these writings, you will find reflections on self-topography, on paper as skin and vessel, and on the intimate relationship between material, memory, and identity. But you will also see how these concepts take form in the studio: in the labor of making, in the structures we build, and in the landscapes we map.
The blog is a place for learning and for curiosity — whether you are drawn to the history and science of paper, the poetics of material, or the processes that turn fiber into relief, texture, and sculpture. It is where we open our practice to dialogue, inviting you to witness how ideas and matter converge.
Visit the blog to discover how paper becomes more than a surface: a living medium, a document of presence, and a partner in creation.
