Brenda Malkinson is a Canadian artist working across disciplines to create nature-based printmaking, collage, paper and paintings.

I forged my own path as an artist after graduating from the Alberta College of Art in 1975.

I taught Art and Design Fundamentals, painting, drawing and printmaking at the University of Alberta, part-time, for twenty-three years.

Contemporary stained glass has been my main media for over 45 years; That said, I am concluding my career as a stained-glass artist to pursue a long-lost desire to work with paper.

I have exhibited my wood block prints in Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United States.

Nature, wild and cultivated, is a constant presence and inspiration in my world and work. The natural world represents for me the reality of life, decay, decline and renewal. What lies beneath my work is a deliberate effort to bring a moment of respite into a challenging world. I feel at this juncture in my practise; there is no final destination as an artist. For me it is about my process, my voice —about exploring ideas and being inspired by unexpected results.
