Discover the captivating creations from our lab in our Workshop gallery

Welcome to The Paper Lab by Guy Lougashi, a haven for exploring the realm of three-dimensional paper reliefs and cast objects, where paper takes center stage.

Our online workshop is an immersive journey into the art of 3D paper making and paper casting, unlocking the boundless potential of this captivating craft.

Unveil the art of mold-making for paper reliefs and paper forms, mastering various techniques to craft unique designs. This workshop pioneers a space where you can mold and cast endless copies of your creations, marking the first time for paper casting in a plain studio without the need for machines. This is essentially three workshops in one - encompassing mold making, crafting paper using natural, recycled, or contemporary materials, and exploring innovative casting techniques.

Delve into the intricacies of mold-making, understanding various methods to create captivating designs. Learn to craft molds that can be reused, empowering you to replicate your paper cast objects effortlessly.

Beyond mold-making, learn the art of creating the perfect blend of paper material. Uncover the optimal water-to-paper ratio and achieve the right consistency and texture. Experiment with a variety of materials and additives, both natural and recycled, to create textures and finishes that are uniquely yours.

Register for our online workshop and unlock a wealth of knowledge. Each 150-minute session, recorded for your convenience, includes insightful presentations, supplementary articles, and a comprehensive video demonstration.

We believe in the value of hands-on practice. Engage with relevant questions and challenges between sessions to better prepare for the second session, where we delve into advanced techniques and alternative casting methods. This session focuses on natural fibers, enhancing your understanding of the material and expanding your creative possibilities.

Our workshops are designed for all levels, requiring no special tools or machinery—ideal for those with a strong motivation for self-education.

Workshop Structure:

  • First Session: Theoretical introduction, principles, mold-making options, paper pulp preparation, pouring, casting, and drying processes. Receive instructions to start your own project.

  • Second Session: Advanced techniques, alternative casting methods, and attention on natural fibers. Address your questions, and explore removing the casting from the mold and applying finishing touches.
